REPurpose - Final Webinar
On 25 September 2026, the REPurpose project held its final webinar, bringing together 41 participants to explore the main results achieved over four years of research and innovation and discuss their potential for future industrial applications.
Although the project officially concluded on 31 August 2026, the webinar provided an opportunity to share its achievements with a wider audience and reflect on the next steps towards the uptake of the solutions developed.
Throughout its implementation, REPurpose focused on transforming post-consumer plastic, paper and cardboard waste into innovative, safe and sustainable recyclable elastomeric polymers (REP), exploring their potential for applications across different industrial sectors.
The event opened with remarks from Cristian Iacob, REPurpose Project Officer at the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA), who highlighted the strategic relevance of the project within Horizon Europe and its contribution to European priorities for safe, sustainable and circular materials.
Lena Decuyper, Project Coordinator from Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, then introduced the project's objectives and achievements, setting the stage for presentations by REPurpose's research and industrial partners.
The webinar showcased the main technical outcomes developed across the circular value chain, including new enzyme engineering methodologies, bio-based monomer fermentation protocols, Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) safety inventories and automated sorting technologies.
The second part of the event featured three thematic spotlight sessions:
The final webinar marked an important milestone in the REPurpose journey, highlighting the achievements made possible through collaboration among research and industrial partners. While the project has formally come to an end, its results provide a foundation for further development, knowledge transfer, and potential industrial uptake.
